Hennessey to launch Venom GT concept sports car
6 December, 2007 BY OUR AUTOMOBILE CORRESPONDENT Hennessey Performance Engineering is all set to make people sit up and watch. The company has announced its first concept car and is calling it the Venom GT. A brain child of boss Steve Everitt, the Venom GT would incorporate Hennessey's potent Venom 1000 Twin Turbo Viper V10 power plant into a light weight mid-engine chassis weighing under 2,700 lbs, said an auto news report. The report added that power would be run through a 6-speed transmission or optional sequential gearbox.
Significantly enough, it is being said that the company hopes that its Venom GT could attain 0 to 100 km/hour times in less than 2.5 seconds and a 0-300 km/hour time of around 14 seconds. Venom GT, according to Hennessey, is likely to be rolled out of the company's facility at Lonestar Motorsports Park which is located just west of Houston, Texas. Meanwhile the company has rebutted remarks that the Venom GT might even be seen as a Veyron competitor. According to Hennessey, the Veyron is an ultra fast and ultra luxurious car. In comparison, the Venom GT will be a much more engaging sports car to drive. The company, which already has tested its Venom 1000 Twin Turbo successfully, hopes to bring in fans of the car toward the mid-engined Venom GT. Do type in your comments below!
