Narain Karthikeyan fined during F1 practice
Narain Karthikeyan was levied a fine by the race stewards
at Melbourne today
4 March 2005: Narain Karthikeyan was fined 6,750 US
dollars by stewards for exceeding the pit lane speed limit in
his Jordan car during opening practice ahead of Sunday's
season-opening Aussie GP.
It seems the stewards found that Narain Karthikeyan was
driving his Jordan Ej-15 car at 86.2 km/h and was found to be
in breach of F1 regulations.
Narain Karthikeyan was in a hurry to get on the track for
practice at the Australian Grand Prix on Friday, and when the
lights signalled the start of the first session for the new
season, Karthikeyan roared out of the pit lane in his gleaming
yellow Jordan and set off around the twisting Albert Park
circuit for the ride of a lifetime.
The only problem for Narain was was that his hasty exit was
a little too quick for the officials. karthikeyan was clocked
leaving the pit lane at 86.2 km/h -- exceeding the allowable
speed limit of 80 km/h.
One little bit - Jordan F1 team is not paying Narain
Karthikeyan for his driving - so he will have to pay it out of
his own pocket. However, the kmoney from the sponsors would
definitely take care of that!
