Narain Karthikeyan finishes 11th - brillaint
driving by the Jordan driver at Sepang F1

India's Narain Karthikeyan starts at 17th, finishes at
11th in a race that saw many superior cars crash and burn
20 Mar 2005: Narain Karthikeyan of Jordan F1 had an
excellent drive at Sepang F1 2005, staying out of trouble and
driving an strong and consistent race.
The fact that he finished only 2 positions behind Kimi
Raikkonen in a much superior McLaren Mercedes Mp 4-20 says
something about the strong driving by Narain.
Narain had an excellent start in the Jordan Toyota car -
unlike last time when he ahd a bad start - and if the car had
a bit more power, could have overtaken former world champion
Jacques Villeneavue before the forst corner itself. Anyway
Narain knew his and his car's limitations, and
drovers sensibly thereafter. the among the drivers
who had to retire were Jenson Button and and
Anthony Davidson in their BAR Hondas, last race's
winner Giancarlo Fisichella in a Renault and Mark
Webber in BMW Williams;, Barrichello in a Ferrari,
Jacques Villeneauve in a Sauber and a Minardi. With
the Sepang track being extremely hard on the
drivers, tyres and cars, stamina and consistency
was of paramount importance - and Narain presented
a brilliant drive avoiding any of the pitfalls
that dogged others. If one goes by the last two
races, Narain sure looks like he has great
potential - and such a showing will stand him in
good stead through the rest of the season and
perhaps into the 2006 F1 season. We shall keep
an eye on Narain, keep you posted regularly. Keep
visiting us as we follow his progress to the
Bahrain Grand Prix after 2 weeks.
