Narain Karthikeyan looking forward to Bahrain Grand Prix
2005
After his success at Sepang F1, Narain Karthikeyan looks
forward to a better race at the Bahrain Grand Prix 2005
March 22, 2005 : Narain Karthikeyan is a very happy man after his sucecss at Sepang, Malaysia in F1 2005.
And he has got reasons galore.
For one, there is no more doubting whether Narain Karthikeyan is a good enough driver for Formula One. There have been nto so quite whisperings that the Indian driver bought his way into Formula One. Jordan and Narain himself have been fighting off those charges for a while. Whether he got his dirve because of his sponsors or not, F1 Sepang proved conslusively that Narain is a strong and consistent driver. That he could handle the toughest circuit that Formula One could throw at anyone. And that ina race that saw saw many retirements and crashes and burning cars, he continued on in an inferior car, and finished the race at a very creditable 11th position.
At a press conference organised today at new delhi, Narain Karthikeyan could not stop smiling and grinning. And now he is looking forward eagerly to the next Formula One race - the Bahrain Grand Prix at the Bahrain International Circuit.
Narain said that "I have already two great races in the F1 championship. It was thought to be impossible and I made it possible. It gave me much confidence after finishing the toughest race -- the Malaysian Grand Prix. Now I am looking forward to other races."
The Bahrain Grand Prix also could be quite like a home Formula One race for Narain due to the large number of Indians in the gulf countries who could make their way there.
The Jordan Toyota Ej-15 is holding strong at the moment. Narain still has some erros to be corrected - for one, his starts have been messed up due to some reason or the other in both the F1 races even though he managed to grab his position back soon enough. He has a strange well-wisher in Michael Schumacher of Ferrari (who himself is not having a great time in his F2004M) who makes it a point to wish him and advise him whenever they meet.
Narain has an invitation from the crown prince of Bahrain (though one can't imagine why the crown prince would want to meet him) and training sessions to go through in preparation for his April 3, 2005 race at the Bahrain International circuit. The Bahrain f1 is supposed to be an excellent and safe race track - and even the heat conditions would be comparatively lesser compared to the stifliing heat of Sepang Formula One race.
