Masai has 2 new street-legal ATVs - Masai A450 and A300

21 August , 2005: Street legal ATVs (or quad bikes, as they are known in the US) are a dream for many. How cool it would be to drive one of those macho ATVs on our streets! I have come across the desire expressed in several US ATV-Quad bike forums which have US visitors. For this writer based in India, of course, there are no ATVs available here in the Indian market at all - so the question does not even arise.
But if you are in one of those countries in Europe where ATVs - with the required safety accessories and equipment - are considered street-legal, you are in luck. Take a look at the Masai A450 ATV and the Masai A300ATV road legal quad bikes were launched at the French Transvalquad show this week.
The Transvalquad show in France is the largest ATV show in Europe.
These two quads are SUV style, which sit between utility and sport models, for those who require some practicality without sacrificing design or performance. Both models are fully Euro-2 homologated for road use.
The A450 is a powerful liquid-cooled ATV, with an impressive output of 45hp in derestricted form. It features dual disc brakes at the front, with single disc at the rear, and is fitted with a 5 speed manual gearbox with reverse. There are two lockable storage pods on the rear mudguards, and a rack is fitted as standard (not on the show model pictured). The RRP is a very competitive £4595.
The Masai A300 ATV is also liquid cooled, and generates 18hp. This power is fed through a fully automatic CVT gearbox, which also features a reverse gear. Just like its bigger brother, it has dual disc brakes at the front, with single disc at the rear, and a carry rack fitted as standard. The RRP for this ATV model is just £2895.
These new Adventure models will be available in the UK from authorized Masai dealers in August.
