Lewis Hamilton takes maiden win at Canada10 June, 2007 BY OUR AUTOMOBILE CORRESPONDENT No Alonso, No Raikkonen, No Massa. It is Lewis Hamilton, Formula One's most sensational rookie who has taken the win at Montreal GP, Canada.
His teammate, current world champion Fernando Alonso, had to be satisfied with a 7th position. It is suspected that Alonso was suffering from handling problems in his McLaren F1 car.
This win means that Hamilton has achieved a unique record. Podium finishes in every Formula One race he has participated in, and the first rookie to lead a championship in points. Fernando Alonso is the current no. 2 in the driver's championship. Felipe Massa, who was expected to lead the Ferrari charge was blackflagged, and so was Giancarlo Fisichella in his Renault. Fisichella's underrated teammate Heiki Kovalainen brought home the remaining Renault in 4th position, saving his own and Renault's tattered reputation this season of F1. Takuma Sato in his Super Aguri Honda also pulled off a huge umber on Fernando Alonso, overtaking him on Lap 68. Do type in your comments below!
