Auto major Ford is gearing up to launch a new, high performance Focus RS model in 2009.
According to an auto news report, the company has released a design image of the car. Going by the design image, it is expected that the new Focus RS will be based on the Ford Focus ST.
Ford had earlier proved that it can come out with great cars by launching the Fiesta and Focus ST models. A lot is being expected from the carmaker as it gets ready for the Focus RS launch. The report added that the basic concept for a new Focus RS has been under development for quite some time now.
According to a Ford official, the automobile manufacturer is not ready to confirm any of the technical details of the new Focus RS yet.
The design team is currently working on finalizing the exact specification and styling. The team has also pointed out that the car it plans to launch will be worthy of wearing the coveted Ford RS badge.
Though the company has not revealed any of the technical details of the new Focus RS, it is said that the company might show a concept version of the car publicly for the first time in mid-2008. Ford has hinted that the Focus ST would be the base for the new Focus RS model.
