Jetstar Kolkata-Singapore low cost flights started
Jetstar has flights to Hong Kong, Taipei, Bangkok and Manila.

24th August, 2005: Jetstar Asia, the Singapore-based low cost airline has launched its low cost thrice a week flights between Kolkota and Singapore. This is the airlines' first flight to eastern India.
The ticket fare for one way flight tickets to Singapore will start at Rs 4000 plus Rs 2100 in taxes for a round trip , Jetstar Asia chief executive officer Ken Ryan said after launching the operation of the Quantas-backed airline here.
"Air travellers from Kolkata will now have affordable access to destinations throughout Asia, including Hong Kong, Bangkok, Manila and Taipei, through our hub in Singapore," Ryan said.
Jetstar is planning to expand its flights to other Indian cities once India and Singapore have signed a flying rights agreement.
The air passengers can also have food packets at nominal rates.
The airline will be operating Airbus A-320 aircraft with a seating capacity of 180 in a single class category on the sector as part of its regional expansion plan.
Jetstar now operates flights to Hong Kong, Taipei, Bangkok and Manila, which are within five hours from Singapore.
The Kolkata- Singapore flights would be on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
The carrier has to compete with the Singapore and Malaysian Airlines, which have recently announced a massive price cut.
Al Arabia and Air India Express, the other two international low-cost carriers is currently operating from the country on the western sector.
Jetstar has a fleet of eight A320 aircraft and is a majority Singapore-owned company with a significant Qantas shareholding.
