20 Sep, 2005: Cheap flight provider easyJet has added a new route to its Newcastle network, which will start this winter. It is also connecting the airline's North East base with the popular holiday resort town of Faro.
Faro is perched on Portugal's south coast and is the gateway to the Algarve. Algarve is a popular paradise for vacationing and holidaymakers, golfers and second home owners destined for the beautiful resorts and marinas such as Vilamoura and Lagos. Algarve is also known for its sunny disposition, beautiful coastlines, amazing landscapes and quaint villages.
The new cheap easyJet flights start from November 1, 2005. There will be three easyJet flights weekly (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) from the start of the winter holiday season. The flight frequency will be increased to daily for summer 2006. The easyJet cheap tickets in this route start at just £24.99 one way (£46.84 return including taxes). The flight tickets can be booked online at easyJet's website.
According to Sue McClellan, Marketing Manager for Newcastle International Airport, "we have received many requests from people living in the North East and in Portugal for a low cost route linking these two areas. easyJet's announcement today meets those needs and we are sure it will quickly become as popular as their other 14 routes from Newcastle."
Europe’s' leading low-budget airline easyJet already offers 15 flight routes from Newcastle, with around 38,000 air passengers traveling weekly.
