ETIHAD AIRWAYS MUNICH, GERMANY FLIGHTS

Etihad non-stop flights to Munich

BY OUR AVIATION CORRESPONDENT

15 June, 2005: Etihad Airways has started non-stop flights to Germany from June. The three-non-stop flights a week are from Abu Dhabi to Munich. Till last mont, Etihad used to fly three times a week to Munich via Geneva.

EY 321 will fly from Abu Dhabi to Munich on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, departing at 13:50 hrs and arriving at Munich at 18:10 hrs. On the return flight, EY324 will take off from Munich at 22:45 hrs to reach Abu Dhabi at 06:40 hrs.*

With the thrice-a-week non-stop flights between Abu Dhabi-Munich and Abu Dhabi-Geneva, Etihad Airways aims to meet the needs of its guests who prefer direct connections to Europe, said Etihad Chairman H.E. Dr. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saif Al Nahyan, who is also Chairman of the Civil Aviation Department in Abu Dhabi "We are pleased to improve this needed air connection as our service significantly enhances the link the UAE has with Switzerland and Germany, two of the major investment, conference and commercial centres of central Europe. The additional direct air connection will facilitate even more opportunities for business and tourism," he said.

Switzerland and the UAE enjoy a substantial trading relationship, particularly in fine jewellery, watches, machinery and precious metals. Germany is also one of the most important trading partners of the UAE and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The Middle East, and particularly the Gulf region, is one of the fastest growing markets for German leisure travel.

Etihad Airways, in a press release said that the new service to Munich reinforces the airline's commitment to offer its air travellers the most convenient flying options.
Etihad said it is also in keeping with the airline's expansion plans, which include not only increasing the frequency of current routes but also adding new destinations to Europe, Asia and North America. Currently Etihad flies to 16 destinations with four of those being to Europe - London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Munich and Geneva.
