30 August, 2005: Passenger traffic has taken off, with the Hong Kong based airline posting double-digit traffic growth in July. A Dragon Air press release attributed the rise in traffic to the summer holiday traffic. The total number of Dragon Air passengers in July was 455,468, over 11.9% more month-on-month and 10.3% year-on-year.
Dragon Air is pleased, and says that it was a good start to the summer season. "Holiday traffic was particularly strong, while the number of individual travelers also increased," said CEO Stanley Hui.
Mainland and Taiwan flights brought maximum passengers for Dragon Air. Dragon's cargo flights also picked up, with a 16.1% year-on-year rise. More Dragon Air cargo flight destinations have been added in the past one year. on the back of increased frequencies and new destinations. The airline ferried cargo worth 32,746 tonnes, compared with 28,195 a year ago. With the increased flights, Dragon Air feels that its decision to focus on cargo flights has been vindicated.
Traffic in Beijing and eastern China has been affected by air traffic control regulations, Dragon Air claimed in a press release. There were several flight delays and traffic disruptions due to this, the airline said.
A 20-year old airline, Dragon Air flies to 30 airports in Asia, with one of the youngest and most modern fleets in its territory. Dragon Air also offers a variety of flexible, quality holiday flight packages, focusing on business and leisure air travelers. 's all-Airbus fleet includes both A320 and A321. Its cargo flights extend all the way to Europe, the Middle East, Japan, Southeast Asia and Mainland China.
