15 June, 2005, Paris: Kuwait-based ALAFCO became one of the first leasing companies to select the A350 when it announced at the Airbus pavilion today the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding for the acquisition of 12 A350s with options on a further six.
This brings the total of orders and commitments for the new A350 to 102 from four customers so far.
Airbus President and CEO Noël Forgeard stressed the important role played by leasing companies, saying: ”ALAFCO has a long term view of the market to provide the aircraft that customers will want in the future. Basically they are trend setters.”
AFCO chairman and CEO, Ahmed Alzabin said the company was very pleased with this order: “We believe this aircraft is going to be an excellent aircraft for our customers.”
Deliveries of ALAFCO’s A350-800s will begin in the third quarter of 2012. “This gives us time to start placing the aircraft with our customers and time to turn our options into firm orders,” said Ahmed Alzabin.
