About Us

Who We Are

Dance With Shadows is a network of blogs. We cover a pretty wide spectrum of topics ranging from Business to Celebrity.

We are asked often – exactly what does your site stand for?

Our individual sites – the blogs – stand for specific, niche topics. The site is just a hub that brings it all together.

Our content is what obsesses us at the moment. It could be cars, gadgets, aviation and aircraft, a Miss Universe pageant, a sports event, or even political commentary.

Who writes for DWS?

A bunch of unlikely people, come to think of it. For some, DWS is a refuge. They wanted to change the world with their pen, and ended up banging out subheadlines on their keyboards to headlines decided by ignoramuses. Disgruntled journalists, you could say.

There are those who follow stuff like cars, movies, and latest gadgets with a passion, itching to add their tuppence.

Then there are the beginners, honing their writing and web pubishing skills. The aspiring journalists, bloggers, or just people stuck in a 9-5 job who want to write.

Not to mention some enthusiastic readers who bury us under a barrage of articles. We give them a platform.

What they all have in common is a desire to chase the latest news and pin it down. Who are we to complain?

Who gets down and dirty

We are a husband and wife team. Editorial direction – which means “what do we like this week” – is decided jointly. Mathew is an ex-journalist, ex-web bureau chief, ex-software company manager and so on. Jivitha Crasta was into business journalism, as well as e-learning. Now, Jivitha handles editorial duties, while Mathew focuses on revenue and traffic-building.

What’s in it for you?

This really is a gratuitous question. Most of you would have got it by now, but we persist. Such are the rules of writing a good About Us.

What we do is bring you the latest in anything you would be interested in.
Well, almost anything. Most of our readers find something or the other that piques their interest.

So what do we give you that a regular news site doesn’t? A regular news site gives you information about subjects you may or may not be interested in. It’s all there for the taking, but it’s remote.

It covers the bases but does it speak to you?

We give latest information about stuff that a reader specifically interested in the subject will want to read. For example, whose who are insane about BlackBerry phones will find every bit of latest information about BlackBerry phones in our tech section. Because our writers are madly interested in those subjects. They have to be manually restrained some times; the glint in their eyes is that scary.

In short, we give you what magazines give but with all the latest news thrown in.

Do we make money?

Down to business now. Yes we do. And why is that?

Because we have fantastic traffic. We are among the top 20 websites in India, in the News and Media space, according to the international website traffic ranking service www.alexa.com. Did you know that? No? Neither did we.

We get some 30,000 page views daily on average, with some 25,000 unique visitors.

Finally, do you want to write for us?

Feel free to do the burying bit we talked about earlier. If it doesn’t get deleted during our patented spam-mail removal technique (Select All + Delete) we may see it and reply to you, usually with a mail telling you that we don’t pay anyone, and how dare you write to us.

Don’t believe that mail, though. We pay sometimes, when someone is more kicked than we are about this site and mail us upwards of a few dozen articles, we sit down and discuss what to do with them. Like, perhaps, the situation warrants violence. Maybe. But we are hardly brave. But when we get gun-licenses, we would search you out and shoot you from a distance. We are very good at anything cowardly.

If you are a true anti-social nut, you would be willing to write without getting a paisa. Ah, now we are talking. Don’t we all feel brotherly and warm now?

Hope you get the idea. We pay, sometimes, those who never expect a payment. So if you have something you feel strongly about writing, mail us.
